Veritas to up India operations

Mumbai: At its first ever Inventor and Innovator Awards ceremony, Veritas Software Corporation announced that it plans to expand its research and development (R&D) operations in India by more than 50 per cent over the next year.
Veritas established R&D facilities in India 11 years ago in Pune, with more than 500 engineers working on all facets of Veritas product development. The company plans to hire an additional 300 personnel over the next 12 months. It is holding the Inventor and Innovator Awards ceremony in recognition of the Veritas India engineering team and their contribution to the company''s technology advancement and industry leadership.
"Veritas''s worldwide engineering team is focused on rapidly advancing storage technology and delivering new products for our customers. Eleven years after it was established, the R&D team in India is the second largest at Veritas and represents almost a quarter of our worldwide engineering strength, enabling us to essentially conduct primary R&D activities 24 hours a day," says Mark Bregman, executive vice-president (products and operations), Veritas. "We expect our growing investment in Veritas'' R&D centre in India will play an important role in keeping the company at the forefront of innovation and technology advancement."
