Virgin Mobile's funny bone comes up with another humorous ad
08 Jan 2009
If you want a raise, track the boss closely, is what Virgin Mobile and Bates 141 are saying. To launch its Vkewl (video camera) phone, Virgin Mobile has come out with a smart ad.
The television commercial begins with a pretty young girl asking her MCP boss about her increment.
The boss brushes off the topic saying that girls don't need increments, and should get married, instead.
During the conversation, the boss picks up the girl's new Vkewl mobile handset.
Seizing the moment, the girl quickly points to the video camera feature of the phone, urging him to operate it. The boss sees a recording of himself making a fool of himself at the office party - sozzled, dancing and flirting with another subordinate. The embarrassing video and the girl's shrewd, expectant look, makes a telling point about her request for the increment.
The creative team included Sonal Dabral, Rohit Malkani and Priti Arora of Bates 141. The film has been directed by Prashant Issar of Corcoise Films.
Virgin has also launched a digital initiative to promote the new phone to enable users to upload videos, check out funny videos, ringtones and features of the new phone.
