Virtusa's Hyderabad centre receives BS 7799 certification

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Advance Technology Center of Virtusa Corp, a global software development and IT services firm, has received the BS 7799 Certification, a global standard for 'information security management system', from the British Standards Institution (BSI). The certification covers the management of information security in the design, testing and maintenance of software and organization-specific software platform.
BS 7799 certification provides independent verification of an organisation's compliance with specific standards and procedures concerning the protection and management of sensitive customer information. BS 7799 contains a number of control objectives including security policy, organisational security, asset classification and control, personnel security, physical and environmental security, communications and operations management, access control, system development and maintenance, business continuity management and compliance.
Speaking on the occasion, Santanu Paul, general manager, Virtusa (India) said, "It gives me great pleasure to announce that Virtusa's advanced technology center has been certified as fully conforming to BS7799. The Information Security Standard BS7799 is published in two parts: ISO/IEC 17799 - code of practice for information security management; BS 7799-2:2002 - specification for information security management.
BS7799 is a standard setting out the requirements for an information security management system.
