Voith Siemens Hydro to supply turbines to Baglihar hydro power station

New Delhi: Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation, part of a consortium responsible for the supply and erection of electrical and mechanical equipment, will supply turbines and generators for Baglihar hydro power station in J&K, as well as the complete electro-mechanical equipment for the 520 MW hydro station at Omkareshwar (MP).
So far Voith Siemens has participated in installing 4500 MW hydro power capacity in the country. Last year, some of the power stations equipped by Voith Siemens Hydro went online, among them Baspa II, India's largest privately operated hydro power station..
"We would like to support India in their expansion of hydropower capability, and we are currently working on several projects," says Dr. Hubert Lienhard,, Director in-charge of Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation and Member on the Board of Voith. "With this ambitious 50,000 MW plan, India offers huge opportunity, which was, not least, our reason to open our Indian subsidiary in New Delhi," he adds.
