Chennai: Volker Grosse-Wilde is the new managing director of the Hyderabad-based Voith Turbo India manufacturing power transmission equipment.
He succeeds Guido Christ who returned to Voith Turbo in Heidenheim, Germany, after nine years in India. In order to ensure a smooth transition of duties, Grosse-Wilde had been working as deputy managing director in Hyderabad since January 2003. Voith Turbo's Hyderabad facility went on stream in 1985 and employs 170 people. The company also looks after the sales and service of products by other Voith Turbo subsidiaries in India.
The 1955-born Grosse-Wilde, a graduate in business studies, has had many years of experience in the finance field as well as heading organisations. He has been with Voith since 2001, working as commercial director at Voith Kuesel, Germany.
One of his first challenges will be the expansion of the foundry in Hyderabad. Voith is investing a considerable sum in extensive upgrade and expansion to meet its own needs as well as the increasing demand from external customers.
