Al Qaeda India chief wants jihad against IAS, IPS officers

Asim Umar, the so-called chief of al Qaeda in India, wants Indian Muslims to carry out lone-wolf operations against senior Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers.
Leader of al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) Asim Umar wants Indian Muslims to not only carry out lone wolf attacks, similar to those in Europe, but also kill administrative and police officers in India, according to a report by SITE intelligence group.
In a venomous sermon the Qaeda chieftain is reported to have asked Indian Muslims to join his force and carry out jihad against government officials.
Umar said it was time for Indian Muslims to launch lone-wolf operations against senior Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials.
His commandments come close on the heels of a cruel terror attack in Dhaka, where a group of seven terrorists killed twenty hostages.
According to the Qaeda cleric, Indian government officials are responsible for carrying out attacks against Indian Muslims. "How could anyone dare to just take knives and cut Muslims like vegetables? We say if the Indian state is not involved in the massacre of Muslims, then Muslim youth should also be given free hand, as given to Hindu mobsters during riots," Umar said.
"Kill senior officers of institutions and administrative departments that get people to incite riots. Target IPS and IAS officers, cause them financial losses," the al Qaeda chieftain said.
Umar urged Indian Muslims to follow the examples of the militants in Syria.
The terror speech comes days after the terrorist siege in Bangladesh ended with the elimination of 6 gunmen and loss of 20 lives who were held as captives by the terrorists.
Isis and the Mujahideen group in Bangladesh claimed responsibility for the attack, although Dhaka blamed local extremist groups for the cowardly act.
The al Qaeda issued the statement four days after the US State Department designated the group as a "foreign terrorist organisation" and added Umar to the list of "global terrorists."
Although Al Qaeda is not known for carrying out lone-wolf terror attacks, intelligence reports point out that the terror groups are trying out lone-wolf attacks as well since they have not been able to establish themselves in India or Bangladesh.
