Washington: Retired Pakistani General Pervez Musharraf has asserted that he never made the kind of comments being ascribed to him by the Indian media and political leadership.  (See: US not aware of details regarding Musharraf expose

He may indeed be stating facts or simply showing a quick pair of heels but certainly he would have knocked the wind out of the Indian government's sails, with external affairs minister S M Krishna clumsily asserting his intention yesterday to take up the issue with US secretary of state Hillary Clinton in the course of a forthcoming visit to the US.

Krishna is due to represent his country at the forthcoming United Nations General Assembly meet in New York. Based on scratchy media reports, he bravely asserted his intention yesterday to take up the matter of Pakistan's diversion of US funds and military aid for use against India with Clinton.

Earlier, his junior, Shashi Tharoor, had waxed eloquent about India's worst suspicions being confirmed by Musharraf's 'revelations.'

It is likely that Clinton may now ask Krishna not to waste any time over a non-issue.

Pakistani newspaper Dawn reports Musharraf as clarifying that the issues raked up by the Indian ministers and its media were not even touched upon in his interview.
