Indian Army on Monday warned of a possible terror attack in South India, saying that it had received intelligence inputs and that some abandoned boats recovered from Sir Creek had confirmed some nefarious designs by anti-nationals.

The Army has received inputs that terrorists are planning to carry out some attacks in Southern part of India, Lt General S K Saini, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, said, adding that security forces are on high alert to ensure that terrorists fail in their nefarious plans to unleash mayhem in India.
“We have inputs that there may be a terrorist attack in the southern part of India. Some abandoned boats have been recovered from Sir Creek. We're taking precautions to ensure that designs of inimical elements and terrorists are stalled,” news agency ANI quoted Lt Gen Saini, as saying.
Reports said, following the Army’s warning, the Kerala Police chief alerted all district police chiefs and asked them to maintain tight security in busy areas like bus stands, railway stations and airports.
Police fear the terrorists may target places that are likely to see heavy crowds during Onam celebrations on Wednesday.
Earlier, in August, security agencies had similarly alerted police in parts of southern Tamil Nadu and had tightened vigil across Tamil Nadu following intelligence inputs that members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba had infiltrated into the state.
Following the Easter attack in Sri Lanka, it was suspected that six members of the terror outfit had infiltrated into the state by sea and moved to different cities, including Coimbatore, according to the police.
Security had been stepped up at many places, including airports, railway stations, bus stands and places of worship across the state. An alert had been sounded, especially in coastal districts, to prevent any further possible intrusion.
Lt Gen Saini's warning comes after intelligence inputs that Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba is planning to carry out attacks on Indian Army camps and other security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources added that the terrorists are planning to carry out attacks on Bari Brahmana camp in Samba district, and Sunjwan and Kaluchak Army camps in Jammu region. Some reports claimed that terrorists are planning to infiltrate through Shopian area and then reach Jammu to create disturbance in the region.
A Zee News report last week said that as many as 50 infiltrators were waiting near the Line of Control to enter India. The revelation was made by two Pakistani terrorists, who were arrested from Gulmarg.
Intelligence agencies sources had also told Zee News that Pakistan’s ISI had ordered terror groups operating in Kashmir valley to target religious places. The nefarious plan of ISI was revealed after the interception of messages between terrorists and their Pakistan-based handlers.
