An attempt to infiltrate into India by a group of militants was today foiled by the Army along Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu district, with one jawan injured in the repulsion fire.
A group of alleged terrorists, taking advantage of bad weather, tried to enter the Indian side of the LoC in the Pallanwala forward area. Indian troops challenged and foiled the infiltration bid, according to an army spokesperson, who added that in the exchange of fire one jawan suffered injuries and has been hospitalised.
"He [the seriously injured soldier] is stable," the spokesman said, adding that entire area has been cordoned off and combing operation is continuing.
The ministry of defence in an official release said that alert troops foiled an infiltration attempt in Pallanwala sector.
"In the ensuing fire fight, one jawan was injured who is stable now. Area was immediately cordoned and combing operations are in progress when last report came in," it said.
