Pakistani militants mutilate body of dead Indian Jawan, Army vows revenge

In a barbaric act, Pakistani terrorists backed by its army reportedly mutilated the body of an Indian soldier who was killed in an encounter with terrorists before fleeing into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir across the Line of Control.

Media reports said the soldier, identified as Manjeet Singh of 17 Sikh Light Infantry, was beheaded and his head was taken across the LoC.

Army said the terrorists fled to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir under the cover of firing provided by the Pakistan Army.

"One militant was also killed in the gun-battle. But the despicable act of mutilating the jawan's body reflects the barbarism pervading in official and unofficial organisations in Pakistan," said the Army spokesperson in Srinagar.

Manjeet Singh died fighting the militants while another soldier was injured. ''The injured soldier has been evacuated,'' he said.

He said the incident reflected the barbarism pervading in official and unofficial organisations in Pakistan.

Former Army officer Raj Kadyani said this could possibly be an attack carried out by the Pakistan Army.

''This barbarism is a true reflection which pervades official and non-official organisations across the border. This act will invite an appropriate response,'' he added.

In another incident, BSF constable Nitin Subhash who sustained serious injuries in an explosion in retaliation to ceasefire violation from across the LoC, also died. He was hurt inside the chamber of the long range weapon which led to a recoil while he was firing.

Four Army and three BSF personnel have died in the latest firing along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistani troops have been targeting civilian areas forward India posts with 120 mm mortar shells and automatic weapons in Jammu leading to their rehabilitation. Districts of Kathua, Poonch and Rajouri districts have been gravely injured. BSF on Friday said that it had killed 15 Pakistani Rangers soldiers in retaliation the IB.

Ever since the surgical strike by Indian Army on 29 September, cross-border firing has been on rise at the border. Since then, ceasefire violations have become a daily occurrence along the LoC. Following unprovoked firing at the border and attacks on civilians, on 21 October, the BSF killed seven Pakistan Rangers and a terrorist in Kathua. Reportedly, around three Pakistani Army personnel were killed in retaliatory firing by Indian troops in the Noushera sector of Rajouri district. Heavy mortar shelling by Pakistan has been on increase in Kathua and Abdullian in RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
