Sharad Pawar made party in IPL tax case

The Bombay High Court today directed that the union of India and union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, one of the top bosses of Indian cricket be made parties to the public interest litigation filed by Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai regarding levy of entertainment tax on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.
The PIL demands that the Maharashtra government should recover entertainment tax from the organisers of IPL. It also alleges that the state government, in January this year, decided to levy the entertainment tax on IPL but the decision was not implemented.
The court allowed the petitioner to make Pawar a party to the case since there are some allegation against him in the petition.
The court adjourned the hearing till 22 June.
