CAG, US counterpart stress need for mutual cooperation
27 Feb 2012
The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), Vinod Rai, has stressed the need for mutual cooperation with its US counterpart, the Government Accountability Office (GAO), which, he said, would be of mutual advantage.
Rai's comments come after the US GAO Gene Dodaro called on the CAG of India to discuss areas of mutual cooperation between the two bodies.
Dodaro is in India to attend the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions' (INTOSAI) Donor Steering Committee, meeting being held in New Delhi.
The INTOSAI Donor Steering Committee focuses on sustainable support of supreme audit organisations (SAIs), primarily at the country level.
Dodaro was appreciative of the Indian CAG's efforts to train its own officers and the infrastructure set up for facilitating skills development.
Dodaro lauded the professionalism of officers of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service and mentioned that they are rated very highly globally. He appreciated their contribution in not only upgrading the professional knowledge and awareness not only in the INTOSAI community, but in the various UN bodies as well.
