Seven terminals are due to come up in the next 18-24 months in the first phase at industrially high density areas of Latur, Patalganga, Chakan, Taloja, Waluj, Talegaon and Ranjangaon.
MIDC says the location of tuck Terminals at these belts will substantially help improve efficiency and speed of movement to and from the industrial units.
''MIDC's proposed Truck Terminals besides providing localised employment, will provide an integrated state-of-the-art facility including amenities like truck parking, transit and transhipment for goods and trucks, communication and networking, amenities and facilities to crew, transport agency offices, vehicles repairs and maintenance and related activities.
According to Shivaji, since Maharashtra transports millions of tonnes of cargo daily traversing the length and breadth of the state, "The truck terminal project is an important ingredient to an unhindered supply-chain."
MIDC says the modern, international class terminals will be equipped with a complete range of facilities including spacious parking, warehousing, loading / unloading, boarding / lodging for drivers, AIDS counselling centres and medical facilities, public toilets, eateries, etc.
