Pakistan limped back to normalcy today, as the people grappled with the fallout of the violence across the country during protests against an anti-Islam film. Friday's bloody clashes left at least 23 people dead and 200 others wounded, apart from destruction of property worth billions of rupees in what is being described by the media as the day of "killer rage".

The protests against the amateurish US-made film 'Innocence of Muslims', which has triggered large-scale demonstrations across the Muslim world, were sanctioned by the Pakistan government.

Friday's clashes took place even as the country observed Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (love of Prophet Mohammad day). Karachi wore a deserted look this morning. The port city had seen violence on Friday that left at least 12 people dead.

Other cities resumed normalcy, TV channel Geo News reported.

There was thin traffic in Karachi while the routes leading to the US consulate were still blocked. Hotels and shops remained closed. In other cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar, business activity was reported to have resumed.

Though blockades were removed from the routes leading to the US Consulate in Lahore, tight security was in place around the US Consulate in Peshawar.
