3G auction bid process completes 22 rounds

Bids for third-generation (3G) wireless spectrum were up by 31 per cent above the base price fixed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Tuesday after the 3G auction kicked off on 9April.
According to Dot a provisional winning bid for pan-India 3G specturum license was up at Rs45.82 billion on the auction's fourth day as against the DoT's base price of Rs35 billion for a pan-India 3G licence.
Additionally DoT said a further six Clock Rounds had been completed on Tuesday which brought the total number of Clock Rounds completed to date to 22.
The highest amount bid was Rs4.59 billion for Gujarat which was up 44 per cent on the base price of Rs3.2 billion.
The Round Price in Round 22 for Delhi Service Area was recorded at Rs4.38 billion whereas for Mumbai Service Area it was recorded at Rs4.17 billion.
The 3G auction would resume on Thursday after a break on Wednesday which was a public holiday on account of Ambedkar Jayanti.
Slots are available in each of the 22 circles for between three and four players. The country has been geographically divided into 22 slots for the services.
