Punj Lloyd bags Cuddalore refinery project from Nagarjuna Oil

New Delhi: Punj Lloyd Group, the global engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) conglomerate, today announced that it has been awarded an order for the Cuddalore refinery project of Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Ltd in Tamil Nadu. The project entails installation of Inside Battery Limit (ISBL) units and interconnection pipe rack at the refinery.
Speaking on the occasion, PK Gupta, director - Punj Lloyd Ltd., said, ''We are proud to win this contract, demonstrating our reputation and expertise in the execution of challenging projects. Cuddalore refinery is a very significant and highly complex project. Once completed, the refinery will produce Euro IV auto fuels in accordance with the latest emission norms and will meet the increasing energy demands of the country. This is our second refinery project in southern India this year and we hope that it will further strengthen our footprint in the market''.
The installation of ISBL units involves setting up of crude and vacuum distillation units, gasoline and saturated gas plant and catalytic hydro-de sulphurization and isomerization units. The scope of work includes construction related procurement, building and civil work, structural work including prefabrication, mechanical equipment erection including revamp, piping, painting and insulation, NDE services, electrical and instrumentation.
The order will be executed over a period of 18 months.
The Cuddalore Refinery Project will have a capacity of 6 MMTPA. When in operation, the refinery will produce 870,000 tonnes of petrol a year, 2,371,000 tonnes of diesel; 556,000 tonnes of LPG; 450,000 tonnes of kerosene and ATF and 220,000 tonnes of naphtha.
Punj Lloyd, a major player in the process plant business, has to its credit prestigious projects like hydrogen generation unit and hydrocracker unit for Haldia Refinery, motor spirit quality upgradadtion projects at IOCL's Haldia and Barauni refinery, sulphur block and utility at CPCL, Manali refinery, utilities and offsites for LNG plant in Yemen, among others.
Very recently, Punj Lloyd Group bagged orders worth Rs235 crore for a process unit and offsite facilities at the Mangalore Refinery.
