Brazil’s Petrobras sets a new monthly record for oil output in April

Brazil's state-controlled oil giant Petrobras has set a new monthly record of 2.03 million barrels oil output per day in April, exceeding the previous monthly record by 29,000 barrels, the company said in its website.
Petrobras also recorded a single-day high of producing 2.08 million barrels on April 24 for oil output during the month.
The company attributed the improved result to excellent realisations of its drilling platforms located along the coast of the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espirito Santo and several wells which recently became online in areas of the Campos basin.
The two fields in the northwestern state of Amazonas - Rio Urucu and Leste do Urucu, inland wells also contributed to production.
With the Cidade de Santos and Capixaba floating production, storage and offloading units start in a few months from now, the company plans to achieve a daily average output at domestic fields of 2.1 million barrels per day.
In March the company discovered oil at the Balay-1 well, part of the Balay block in the central-eastern province of Casanare and discovered two new oil deposits in deep waters off the coast of Angola.
Petrobras had produced an average of 2.5 million barrels of oil and natural gas per day at its fields in Brazil and abroad till March, 2010.
