Hyderabad: Singapore-based BridgeOne Technologies will invest around $15 to 20 million by December 2008, in order to bring to the Indian market an entirely new range of digital, utilitarian and entertainments gadgets that are manufactured by Chinese firm Aigo. These products are marketed under the Aigo brand name.
BridgeOne has reportedly already partnered with Future Group''s Central to host its products, and is reportedly in dialogues with some other retail chains as well, including Hyderabad-based Digital Shoppy, Times Group''s Planet M, RPG Group''s Music World, Dubai based Landmark Group''s LifeStyle, and the Future Group''s eZone. Reportedly, these would be in place by the time the company is set to roll out in December 2008.
Aigo''s product range music players (MP3, and MP4) digital photo frames, pen drives, MP3 glasses and watches, and digital storage devices.
According to sources, the initial roll-out will cover around six of Aigo''s products, gradually growing to include more of the company''s product range thereafter.
According to BridgeOne sources, Aigo is the official sponsor for the Beijing Olympics, and also for Mclaren, and Vodafone. BridgeOne sees its products reaching out to the younger generation, on account of its versatility and utilitarian character.
Reports indicate that the company will commence operations first in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and New Delhi, after which it will expand to around 20 major Indian cities in phases. Marketing efforts for these products will see BridgeOne sponsoring some events in India, such as the ever popular Go-Karting.
Aigo products are manufactured in Beijing and marketed across Europe and South East Asia. Most of these products are targeted at the youth who love music on the go. Reports indicate that the company received an encouraging response during its test marketing phase in Delhi recently.
