India's broadband wireless bid value reaches Rs26,000 crore

The government's expected revenue at the end of the eighth round of the broadband wireless (BWA) auction stood at Rs25,812 crore even as the price for the all-India spectrum rose to Rs8,604 crore, a CNBC-TV18 report said.
The price for BWA spectrum for Delhi and Mumbai continued to increase at Rs20 crore per round during the past 8 rounds and the bids were up Rs160 crore (15.8 per cent) today at Rs1,172.96 crore, sources close to the developments said.
Delhi and Mumbai circles were bid at Rs1,305 crore while Maharashtra and Gujarat circles were bid at Rs916 crore and Rs529 crore, respectively.
The bid activity level is expected to hit 90 per cent from round 65, which will be third clock round on day 9.
Bidders seem to have turned attention from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu, with the price for that circle rising nearly Rs141.36 crore (15 per cent) to Rs1,084 crore.
