Indian Auto Gas to set up 1,000 auto LPG stations in India by 2013

Indian Autogas Company Ltd (IACL), an energy company engaged in trading of auto liquefied petroleum gas (ALPG) yesterday outlined its strategy to promote 1,000 auto LPG dispensing stations across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra by 2013.
The auto LPG dispensing stations (ALDS), under its 'Vision 1000', include outlet expansions through a combination of company owned and franchisees outlets. IACL would invest in the civil works, plant and machinery in the ALDS and the operator will provide land on lease to the company.
Tamil Nadu will see the rollout of the largest number of outlets, with 565 outlets on the anvil, followed by 261 in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra and 195 in Kerala.
According to the company, auto LPG consumption is estimated to grow substantially in the next three years
IACL says it will provide end-to-end solution from construction to supply of Italian technology systems for efficient distribution to all the outlets.
S M Anthony Thomas, CEO, IACL, said, ''With the government of India enacting laws and rules to promote green fuels, the consumption of auto LPG will witness a tremendous increase in the future. Awareness of auto LPG as a low-cost, eco-friendly fuel is also gaining momentum in India. In addition, automobile companies have also commenced production of auto LPG / CNG operated vehicles.''
