Mumbai: The government would promote an industrial corridor along the proposed Delhi-Mumbai freight corridor and golden quadrilateral, finance minister P Chidambaram said on the sidelines of a CII workshop on infrastructure.
He said the industrial corridor would be built along the proposed Delhi-Mumbai freight corridor and road corridor.
Replying to questions on the impact of the India-Japan agreement he said "We have proposed to leverage the freight corridor and golden quadrilateral national highway from Delhi to Mumbai by promoting industrial corridor comprising large number of units."
He said the government would make efforts to attract around $77 billion in infrastructure sector through public-private partnership model in next five years. The centre is also making efforts to involve the states in "big and bold infrastructure projects," Chidambaram added.
He said the successful conclusion of the bidding for the ultra-mega power projects is a welcome respite in the search for capital.
"The Sasan and Mundra power projects will provide benchmark for other projects. We have to repeat it in highways, ports and other sectors," he said.
