Mumbai: Chennai's international business school, Great Lakes Institute Of Management (GLIM), has announced the launch of its greatlakesMDP, a series of management development workshops for the Indian business community across the country. It is to start with one-day workshops in Chennai and Bangalore this month, aimed at policy makers and implementation managers.

GLIM is promoted by leading Indian and American academicians, supported by a group of Indian industrialists. It is headed by Dr Bala V Balachandran of the Kellogg School of Management. It has an innovative management programme, emphasising value-based business education.

The first workshop, conducted by internationally acclaimed services marketing guru Prof M Ven Venkatesan of the University of Rhode Island, will focus on the dynamic marketing changes taking place in the services industry in the new millennium.

Speaking at the press conference, Prof Venkatesan said: "This program will give general managers insights from both organisation-wide and functional perspectives, enabling them to take a strategic view and maximise the internal consistency of the organisation's activities."

GLIM plans on making the MDP a regular event and will focus on industry verticals such as Finance, IT, Healthcare, ITeS, Hospitality Education, Human Resource, Consulting, Market Research, Facility Management, Warehousing and Transportation.

Executive Director of GLIM Prof Sriram said: "The workshops will employ case studies and introduce participants to helpful frameworks and models through which their own experiences can be analysed, developing their managerial style to meet the needs of the organisational culture."
