The world's largest professional network, Linkedin, has launched Linkedin Placements, aimed at making it easy for graduating students to easily find their first job.

''Our conversations with students, placement officers and recruiters involved in campus recruitment point to an unmet need for efficiency and effectiveness,'' said Ganesan Venakatasubramanian, head, engineering, Linkedin India in a statement on launching the solution.

Developed locally by over 40 Linkedin employees, Linkedin Placements allows students to apply for jobs from any location and at any time to stay informed.

This is the first time that Linkedin Placements was being piloted by the network in India.

In a recent move, Linkedin introduced a revamped messaging service along the lines of modern chat apps, in a departure from its unpopular design that resembled email.

The new service would include features such as GIFs and stickers to add a ''little extra personality'' to user's chats, the company said in a blog post.

The messaging service now featured improved push and email notifications and messages are organised in a chat-style format with conversation threads like with most messaging apps today such as Facebook's Messenger and WhatsApp.

The initiative will help recruiters find the right talent from among millions of freshs graduates. LinkeIn Placement will help employers post jobs prior to visiting the campus, which will help them filter candidates that may not be fit for the job.

Students in respective campuses will be able to view various job posts, keep track of jobs most suited to them and apply to relevant ones. They would also receive alerts from time to time.

As many as 14 colleges have signed up for the pilot programme of LinkedIn Placements, including FMS Delhi, Presidency College, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Jain University, Kristu Jayanti College, Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, Welingkar College, DY Patil University, RVCE College, ITM group of Institutions, PESIT College, Mount Carmel College and MIT Institute of Design.
