The value of pan India spectrum for 3G mobile services touched Rs5,095.91 crore after 34 rounds of bidding spread over six days, 45.5 per cent higher than the initial base price of Rs3,500 crore fixed at the commencement of the auction.

Yesterday the price was up by Rs264.8 crore as compared with the value at the end of the fifth day.

The auction had begun a week ago on 9 April.

The government is now sure to net at the minimum Rs20,380 crore from the sale of 3G spectrum to four players including the spot allotted to BSNL and MTNL.

The government was expecting to get over Rs35,000 crore from both 3G and broadband spectrum auction and according to analysts assuming the auction would go on for another week the government would comfortably hit the target.

The sixth days trends largely followed that of the previous day say analysts.
