Medical stores in the country observed a nationwide protest with most stores remaining closed today in protest against the government’s move to regularise online medical stores, which they consider to be detrimental to their interests.
The All India Organisation of Chemists & Druggists, the apex body of chemists across India, which gave the call for a nationwide strike on Friday, said e-pharmacies will increase the number of drug abuse cases as the authorities will not be able to track products sold online.

Reports said medical stores across Mumbai and Delhi also remained shut on Thursday morning.
The government has promised to discuss the problems of medical stores with the recent announcement on regularisation of e-pharmacies.
