Maharashtra to start buying land for SEZs

Mumbai: The recent proposal to stop land acquisition proceedings for the Reliance-promoted Mahamumbai SEZ and other SEZs made by Patangrao Kadam state cabinet minister, been dismissed by the state government's cabinet sub-committee on rehabilitation of farmers.
Kadam himself is the chairman of this sub committee.
The state government had appointed the sub committee to formulate a policy and decide upon the compensation package for SEZs in the state under chairmanship of Kadam.
The committee members include finance minister Jayant Patil, water resource minister Ajit Pawar, industry minister Ashok Chavan, revenue minister Naryan Rane, exise minister Ganesh Naik and civil supplies minister Sunil Tatkare. Out of seven members of the committee, only three were present at the meeting today.
