Smart phone usage metrics unveiled

Mumbai: Specialised telecom research agency Informate Mobile Intelligence today introduced its new user information site that provides information on smart phone usage in India for telecom industry professionals, such as usage on communication, multimedia, games, web surfing, social networking and online trading, using its proprietary metering tool SmartMeter.
The free to use site, www.smartmobi.in, provides a glimpse of the enormous analytics potential of the rapidly growing telecom industry. Informate's SmartMeter provides up on Smartphone usage. In one simple step, users can view interesting data which is bifurcated in various sections.
The site carries Informate's research findings that include "browsing commands highest share of time spent - more than calls and messaging put together - while as a category, a sizeable share is taken up by entertainment comprising media player, gallery, online video sharing, games, radio and camera".
Other interesting tid-bits: Symbian-based handsset users spend more time on the media player than messaging. They spend an average of 196 minutes on their smart phones compared to the 152 minue spent by Windows mobile smart phone users.
