Telcos gross revenues of over Rs40,000 crore

GSM subscriber base in India, expanded by 8.89 million in June taking the total number of users of the technology to 315.8 million after 8.3 million subscribed to the service in May according to the Cellular Operators Association of India. April saw an addition of 8.9 million subscribers.
Bharti Airtel added 2.82 million users which took its subscriber base to 102.4 million whereas Vodafone-Essar registered a lower net addition of 2.37 million in June, as against 2.54 million the company added in May.
During the month, the Aditya Birla Group telecom service provider added 1.61 million up from 1.3 million in May and Aircel subscribers grew by 1.11 million users.
Data pertaining to the Reliance Communications was not available as it does not provide separate GSM numbers for its operations which offer both CDMA and GSM services.
India's total telecom subscriber based increased to 429.72 million of the quarter ended march boosting tele-density to 36.98, according to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). As against this the corresponding figures for the quarter ending December stood at 384.79 million.
Wireless subscriber base swelled to 391.76 million up from 346.89 million while wireline subscriber base expanded to 37.96 million from 37.90 million. Rural wireline subscribers declined by 0.93 per cent to 10.58 million from 10.68 million while rural wireless subscribers increased 17.77 per cent to 109.71 million from 93.15 million.
