CAT aspirants planning to file Right To Information (RTI) applications to seek clarity on the evaluation and selection process to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Managements (IIMs) may be in for disappointment as both IIMs and coaching institutes say this would not help them obtain the details they seek.
Coaching institutes had advised CAT disgruntled aspirants to file RTI applications to seek explanation on the conduct of the evaluation process.
Meanwhile, Prometric held a press conference in New Delhi yesterday and reiterated that its scoring process was completely transparent. ''We have given details of how we have assessed each candidate on our website. All this has been done as per international norms,'' Prometric CEO Charles Kernan said.
Prometric India MD Soumitra Roy said they would furnish information to the IIMs against any RTI query.
Kernan, however admitted that there had been lapses on their part and the firm had learnt the right lessons from CAT 2009.
''It wasn't a scale problem. There were some infrastructural issues. We were using public infrastructure and networks during the first three days and that created some problems.'' He added that of the 361 centres, around 13 per cent had initial problem while conducting CAT. He also said the company was in talks with IIMs to smoothen out the kinks in the process and ensure a smooth transition of CAT to the online format next year.
