17 Feb 2011
Former telecom minister A Raja, the alleged mastermind of the 2G Spectrum allocation scam, will be lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail till 3 March. Raja, whose CBI custody ended today, will be in judicial custody for the next 14 days.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which arrested Raja on 2 February in connection with 2G spectrum scam, told the court that Raja was not cooperating with the investigators and that it needed more time to question him.
The CBI had, on Monday, extended custody of Raja for three more days and that of Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa for four more days.
Raja and Balwa were also simultaneously questioned over the grant of licence and the alleged favours extended to the company in the 2008 sale of 2G spectrum.
The CBI also brought in Reliance Communication chairman Anil Ambani for an hour for questioning along with Raj and Balwa.
Ambani was reportedly questioned in connection with his company Reliance Communications' earlier stake in Swan Telecom, which it sold at the time of spectrum allocation.
