Ajit Kumar Seth appointed cabinet secretary

Senior IAS officer Ajit Kumar Seth has been appointed the next cabinet secretary. He will succeed KM Chandrashekhar who retires in June. Prime minister Manmohan Singh today cleared the appointment, according to officials.
Seth, a 1974 batch IAS officer of the UP cadre, is currently serving as secretary, public grievances and co-ordination in the cabinet secretariat.
He will serve as an officer on special duty in the cabinet secretariat till 13 June assuming charge the next day. He would have a fixed two year tenure.
Seth has been on central deputation since 1January, 2009. He was born on 24November, 1951 and has a masters degree in Chemistry.
