Ajit Pawar to be back as Maharashtra Dy CM

Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar and nephew of party supreme Sharad Pawar, who had to resign from the state cabinet in September in the wake of allegations of corruption in implementing irrigation projects, is all set to make a comeback on Friday as Maharashtra deputy chief minister.
Pawar is expected to be sworn in at 10 am at Raj Bhavan, sources close to the NCP leader said.
Decks were cleared for Pawar's reinstatement with the White Paper on irrigation scam presented by his party before the state cabinet late last month.
It may be noted that NCP kept the post open after Ajit Pawar's resignation as it was sure to return him to the ministry.
According to NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik, Ajit Pawar has the backing of the whole party and party activists wanted Ajit to rejoin the government.
It was expected that Ajit Pawar's dramatic announcement on 25 September of his resignation from the ministry would trigger a crisis in the Ashok Chavan-led ministry.
