BBC Worldwide Channels appoints Deepak Shourie as director, South Asia

BBC Worldwide Channels has bought on board Deepak Shourie as director of its South Asia operations.
Shourie will be based in New Delhi and will spearhead the management of the channels in the region.
Prior to joining BBC Worldwide Channels, Shourie was the executive vice-president and managing director, Discovery Communications India. During his seven year stint with the organisation, he had launched Discovery Travel & Living in India.
He will report to Mark Whitehead, senior vice president and general manager, BBC Worldwide Channels Asia and work with senior management strategy team in Singapore and London.
Whitehead said in an official communiqué, "We are very excited to have Shourie join us to make further inroads into South Asia. He brings a great depth of knowledge, experience and numerous personal relationships that will enable us to shift into the next stage of growth for the channels business in the region."
Shourie has worked for Living Media, publishers of India Today as group general manager, where he helped launch the Outlook magazine; The Hindustan Times as executive president and Zee TV as CEO.
