Black SUV caused security breach at Priyanka Gandhi’s residence, says Amit Shah

Congress party chief from Merut Sharda Tyagi’s arrival at the residence of party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s residence on 26 November in a Tata black Safari SUV on 26 November at the time Priyanka’s brother Rahul Gandhi was to drop in (also in a black Tata Safari) caused confusion among security guards, resulting to a sort of security breach, union home minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday.
Shah said a high-level probe has been ordered into the matter amid the row over security breach at the Congress general secretary’s residence.
Speaking regarding the breach, Shah said the security agencies deployed to give protection to Priyanka Gandhi were told that the Congress leader’s brother Rahul Gandhi would be visiting her in a black 'Tata Safari' SUV.
However, he said, it must have been a mere coincidence that instead of Rahul Gandhi, Sharda Tyagi, the chief of Congress Committee from Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) along with four other party workers came in a similar vehicle. Since the car was black Safari and came at around the same time, it was allowed inside, said Shah.
Shah also pointed out that Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra, Rahul Gandhi and other members of her family have made it a practice of not passing through the security arrangement.
During the discussion over the Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, 2019, in Parliament, the home minister added that three personnel have been suspended in the wake of the incident.
"It was a coincidence. We have ordered an enquiry. All three responsible for the breach have been suspended. The enquiry is being carried out by the senior-most IG (Inspector General)," he said.
