Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi's daughter MK Kanimozhi may be grilled by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the 2G scam case, Headlines Today said quoting unnamed sources.
Last month, the investigation agency had raided the offices of Kalaignar TV, run by DMK boss Karunanidhi, following allegations that Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa had facilitated the transaction of around Rs200 crore to it.
The funds had been arranged by Cineyug Films from DB Group companies, which has family members of Balwa as directors or shareholders. According to Kalaignar TV, the money was loaned, which was returned with interest.
Meanwhile, the apex court has asked the CBI to probe whether the government arm-twisted telecom company S Tel to give up its claim for a pan-India mobile permit.
The CBI was also directed by the court to probe the clearance to the investment of UAE's Etisalat into Swan Telecom discounting the objections of certain ministries to the deal on security grounds.
The deal had been opposed by both the Home and Finance ministries, which had asked the Foreign Investment Promotion Board to reject the investment by UAE-based telco into Swan.
