China's top science award for Indian scientist Dr C N R Rao

Noted Indian scientist Dr C N R Rao, founder of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in Bangalore, has been conferred with China's top science award.
Rao, 79, received the 2012 Award for International Scientific Cooperation, for contributing to Sino-India scientific cooperation.
The awards, instituted in 2007, are awarded annually by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is China's top academic and research institution for natural sciences.
Rao's field of research is solid-state and structural chemistry.
