Dr E Sreedharan, five others presented Qimpro quality awards

At the 18th annual Qimpro Awards function held in Mumbai on yesterday, Dr E Sreedharan and five other individuals were presented awards by the Qimpro Foundation in recognition of the leadership role they have played in the improvement of quality in their fields.
Dr Sreedharan, managing director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, was awarded the Platinum Standard for business, Dr Meenakshi Gopinath, principal, Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi, the Platinum Standard for education and Dr Abhay Bang and Dr Rani Bang, directors, SEARCH, the Platinum Standard for healthcare.
Gold Standard awards were presented to Deepak M Satwalekar, managing director and CEO, HDFC Standard Life Insurance, in the area of business, and to Dr Y G Parthasarathy, dean and director, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Group of Schools, in the area of education.
Separate panels headed by Ratan Tata, chairman, TATA Sons, Dr KK Nohria, advisor, Crompton Greaves, and Dr Ajit Phadke, head of urology department, Bombay Hospital selected award winners in the areas of business, education and healthcare respectively.
The awards function was attended by a number of people prominent in the quality movement in India, including Tarjani Vakil, ex-chairperson and managing director, Exim Bank, and Pradeep Udhas, partner, KPMG. Suresh Lulla, managing director, Qimpro Consultants, and one of the pioneers of the movement, spoke on the occasion, as did the award winners.
Over their 18 years of existence the Qimpro Awards have come to be globally recognised and are the only awards of their nature in India.
