Dr Oliver Gruenberg joins SkodaAuto India as managing director, technical

New Delhi: SkodaAuto India, a fully owned subsidiary of SkodaAuto A.S., Czech Republic and one of the most promising automobile companies in India, announced the appointment of Dr Oliver Gruenberg as its new managing director, technical affairs.
Dr Gruenberg assumed responsibilities from 1 August 2010 and has taken over from his predecessor, Jean-Marie Lagey, managing director, technical affairs, who retired from Skoda Auto India and has been assigned new responsibilities in Europe.
In his previous capacity as manufacturing director and deputy general director of Volkswagen Russia, Dr. Gruenberg played a key role in driving the business in Russia. After having led the company to production readiness in full cycle production in 2009, he took over the responsibility for the Volkswagen plant in Sarajevo Bosnia within the business area of driving systems.
A student of physics from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Dr. Gruenberg completed his doctorate in engineering sciences, specialising in quality improvement in high volume car coating techniques. He joined the Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg in 1995, completing his doctorate during his stint at Volkswagen.
Thomas Kuehl will continue as the spokesperson of the company and member of the board and director sales and marketing. Subsequently, Sanjay Mundade will continue as the CFO and member of the board of commercial affairs and Makarand Deshpande as member of the board of human resources and administration at SkodaAuto India.
