Jailed Ajay Chautala addresses rally through cellphone

Authorities at Delhi's Tihar jail have ordered an inquiry into jailed Indian National Lok Dal leader Ajay Chautala allegedly addressing a public rally at Sonepat in Haryana through a telephone call made from the prison.
"All the inmates are allowed to talk to their family every day for five minutes through phone. Ajay Chautala telephoned his son on 19-20 February, who in turn called his supporters. Chautala then addressed them through speaker phone," director general of prisons Vimla Mehra said.
"An inquiry was set up on Saturday. We are looking at every angle. The report might be submitted by tomorrow (Tuesday)," Mehra said.
Both Ajay Chautala, an MLA, and his father, former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, have been jailed after being indicted by the courts for their involvement in the teachers' recruitment scam of 2000.
"Suitable action will be taken if the allegation against Chautala is found true," added Mehra.
Another jail official said Chautala addressed the rally in Sonipat district for five minutes when his son Dushyant patched him up through speaker phone.
