John Atkinson appointed MD, LexisNexis Butterworths India

New Delhi: Legal annd regulatory information solutions provider, LexisNexis, today announced the appointment of John Atkinson as the managing director of LexisNexis Butterworths India with immediate effect. Atkinson will be based in New Delhi and report directly to Doug Kaplan, CEO of LexisNexis Asia Pacific, the company said.
In his current post, he will be responsible for meeting expanding customer needs brought about by a growing economy, globalisation and a need to streamline processes to enable LexisNexis fulfill its stated objective of emerging the largest print and electronic, legal, tax and regulatory publisher in India, Atkinson is responsible for driving this initiative.
Prior to this appointement, Atkinson served as the managing director of LexisNexis Asia from 2005, where he was responsible for heading the company's Indian business that has experienced substantial growth due to changing business and legal trends.
Atkinson has extensive experience in IT-based organisations throughout Asia. Before joining LexisNexis, hw was executive director of GAVS Information Services Pvt Ltd, an IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) company. He had also served as the chief executive officer of Asia Converge Pte Ltd, a joint venture between the Singapore Stock Exchange, DBS and OCBC that hsd business interests in business process outsourcing for the securities market.
He has also worked for 17 years with Reuters based in Sweden, the UK, the Arabian Gulf, the Philippines, India and Singapore. He was responsible for significant growth and success of Reuters India Limited during his teunre as managing director based in Mumbai in the late 1990's.
