Lokmat Group's Vijay Darda elected ABC chairman

Chairman and managing director of Lokmat Group of newspapers Vijay Darda has been unanimously elected the new chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) for the year 2010-11.
A three-time Rajya Sabha member, Darda has been a member of ABC's council of management since 2003 and was the deputy chairperson of the bureau for 2009-10.
He has previously held the post of president of the Indian Newspaper Society, and was twice elected member of the Press Council of India.
Darda was also the founder-president of the South Asian Editors Forum.
He has been a recipient of several journalism awards, including the prestigious Feroze Gandhi Memorial Award.
Sam Balsara, chairman and managing director of Madison Communications, was unanimously elected the deputy chairman of ABC.
Other members of the bureau's council of management are Ravi Dahriwal (Benett Coleman and Co Ltd), T Venkattram Reddy (Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd) and Shailesh Gupta (Jagran Prakashan Ltd).
