The board of directors of ICICI Venture Funds Management Co Ltd, the private equity unit of ICICI Bank, on Monday appointed Vishakha Mulye as managing director and chief executive, according to a company release. She replaces Renuka Ramnath, who has resigned from the board, reportedly to start her own venture.
Mulye, a chartered accountant by training, was earlier the executive director of ICICI Lombard General Insurance Co, India's largest private sector general insurer.
Before that, from 2005 to 2007, she was the chief financial officer of ICICI Bank Ltd. According to the release, she has vast experience in the areas of strategy, treasury and markets, proprietary equity investing and management of long-term equity investments, structured finance and corporate and project finance.
Mulye is stated to have played a pivotal role in setting up the special asset management group, which was formed for proactive resolution of distressed assets. Vishakha played a key role in conceptualising and implementing the merger of ICICI with ICICI Bank, which led to the creation of the second largest bank in India.
