25 Nov 2010
Nandan Nilekani, chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), and Sreeni Tripuraneni, chairman and CEO, 4G Identity Solutions, won at the annual global ''ID People Awards'', which recognise the contributions of thought leaders, innovators and pioneering adopters that drive the development of ID technologies.
Nilekani won the ''ID Limelight Award'' while Tripuraneni won the ''ID Outstanding Achievement Award'', making it the first time that India won two out of five awards at the ID World Congress.
Tripuraneni won for his efforts to bring biometric ID management to India; developing technology and processes for emerging countries, besides successfully implementing the world's largest unique citizen ID database.
He was presented the award at the ID World International Congress held in Milan, Italy last week.

The ID World International Congress showcases the evolving world of RFID, biometrics and smart card technologies, and is the only international forum that looks at the auto ID industry as a whole, rather than focusing on a specific technology or vertical sector.
It offers a full-scale and complete vision of social, technological and business aspects related to the deployment of the automatic identification systems.
