Amitabh Kumar gets just a
3-month extension
New Delhi: The government has granted
Mr. Amitabh Kumar, director (operations) and former acting chairman-cum-managing director
of VSNL a three-month extension in his current post.
Mr. Kumar is one of the oldest officers in VSNL, having started off with the Overseas Communications Services which was subsequently renamed VSNL.
After the term of Mr. Syngal who was
chairman of the organisation came to an end, Mr. Kumar was asked to function as the acting
chairman-cum-managing director and then early this year the government appointed Mr. SK
Gupta as the new chairman-cum-managing director.
Mr. Kumar has spearheaded VSNL's internet foray, which was launched.
IDBI insurance venture to be headed by former LIC MD
Mumbai: Mr. YP Gupta,
former managing director of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, is set to take over
as chief executive of the insurance operations of IDBI. The financial institution is close
to finalising a joint venture agreement with the Principal group of the US for its
insurance venture. The two partners plan to float a life insurance-cum-pension venture.
Prior to taking charge as managing director of LIC, Gupta was heading LIC Housing Finance, a subsidiary of the corporation.
