CII Karnataka elects new chiefs
Bangalore: K.K. Swamy, Deputy Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd, has been elected Chairman of the Karnataka chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Daljit Mirchandani, Chairman and President of Ingersoll Rand (India) Ltd, has been elected Vice-Chairman.
Swamy, who started as Deputy Advisor (Finance) with TECSOK, Karnataka Government, had served in HMT, Hyderabad Allwyn, before joining the Mysore Kirloskar group. He subsequently became the Deputy MD of TKML. Mirchandani, himself had a stint in Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd as its Executive Director before assuming the present responsibility in Ingersoll Rand.

Unique honour for AP scientist
Hyderabad: Dr Mannava V.K. Sivakumar, an agri-meteorologist, has been elected as member of the Royal Academy of Overseas Sciences of Belgium. The Technical Sciences section of the Academy, to which he has been elected, has a maximum of 60 members, 10 of them foreign. Dr Sivakumar, Chief of Agricultural Meteorology Division of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), Switzerland is the only Indian among the 10, according to a release. The Guntur-born scientist has carried out agro-climatology research at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat).
