Wakhle is 'Star Performer'
Bangalore: Rajiv Wakhle, Head, Product Development, Britannia Industries Ltd (South), received the Star Performer of the year award bestowed by LARAS (the regional master licensee for south India of the Leadership Management International -LMI).

The category of Client of the Year honour went to Grind Well Norton Ltd and it was received Anand Mahajan, Managing Director.

The awards were presented by Som Mittal, President and CEO of Digital Global Soft Ltd at a function here on Thursday. Started by Paul J Meyer in 1964, LMI is a premier global people development organisation with operations in 70 countries. The organisation has presence in 15 cities in India.

Bhagirath Rao to get VASVIK award
Hyderabad: Dr E. Bhagiratha Rao, a noted defence scientist, has been selected for the VASVIK (Vivadhalaxi Audyogik Samshodhan Vikas Kendra) award for his research and contributions in the field of electrical and electronic sciences and technologies.

The award carrying a cash prize of Rs.50, 000 and a citation would be presented to Dr. Rao on September 18 at Mumbai by Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Praful Patel, while Lord Navnit Dholakia of Waltham Brooks, UK, will be the guest of honour.
He has been instrumental in building the Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL), Dehradun, into one of the best electronic laboratories in the DRDO and was Director of the Hyderabad-based DLRL and the Institute of Armament Studies, Pune.

Alagappa University degree for A.C. Muthiah
Chennai: The Karaikudi-based Alagappa University has conferred the degree of Doctor of Letters on the SPIC group Chairman, A.C. Muthiah. The citation mentions the successful business, social and philanthropic initiatives that Muthiah has taken in his career.

Manglik wins IGU award for geophysics
Hyderabad: Dr Ajay Manglik, Scientist at the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), here has been selected for the M.S. Krishnan Gold Medal of the Indian Geophysical Union (IGU) for his contributions in the field of Geophysics.

The Medal would be presented on December 29, 2004 at the IGU convention in Rajkot, Gujarat, according to an NGRI press release.
