Reliance Communications appoints Bharti Group veteran as CEO

Reliance Communications has appointed Bharti Group veteran Vinod Sawhny as CEO across all businesses.
Prior to joining RCom Sawhny worked with Bharti Group for more than 10 years, in various roles, including as member of the Bharti Airtel Management Board, Joint
President, Airtel Enterprises, Executive Director and CEO, Airtel Mobility, and president and COO of Bharti Retail.
An alumnus of BITS Pilani and XLRI, Jamshedpur, Sawhny brings with him over 30 years of well-rounded experience in establishing and building diverse businesses, including telecommunications, retail and consumer durables.
RCom has appointed Gurdeep Singh, CEO wireless, as CEO, consumer business, comprising wireless, DTH and consumer broadband, representing over 70 per cent to its revenues and operating profits.
Punit Garg will continue as CEO of Indian enterprise and data centre business, and Bill Barney is the CEO of Reliance Globalcom that comprises Flag Telecom, Vanco and Yipes.
The company also constituted a board, comprising senior management of the company. The members of the management board are Vinod Sawhny, Gurdeep Singh, Punit Garg, Bill Barney, Suresh Rangachar (president IT and services), Manikantan Iyer (CFO) and Amit Das (president, human resources).
