Star India ropes in Nitin Vaidya as business head, Hindi channels

Star India has appointed Nitin Vaidya as business head for its Hindi channels, which include Star Plus, STAR One, STAR Gold and STAR Utsav. He will report to Sanjay Gupta, COO, Star India.
Prior to this, Vaidya was chief operating officer (COO), national channels at Zee Entertainment and business head for Zee TV. (See: Nitin Vaidya bids adieu to Zee)
Vaidya was with Zee for 10 years. In 2008, as part of the restructuring at Zee, Vaidya was elevated from director, regional channels, Zee Group to the COO. He thereby took charge of the Group's national channels like Zee TV, Zee Cinema, Jagran, Zee Muzic and Cafe Trendz.
During his tenure with Zee, Vaidya spearheaded the Group's expansion into regional channels by launching Zee Marathi, Zee Talkies and Zee Bangla. He also helped set up the film production and distribution business in Marathi.
Vaidya had started his career in media as a reporter with the Sakal group.
