Swamy submits documents against Chidambaram in 2G case

Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy has submitted copies of documents before the Special Court to support allegations that home minister P Chidambaram had conspired with the then telecom minister Andimuthu Raja in the allocation of second generation telecom spectrum in 2008.

Chidambaram, who was finance minister at the time of the 2G spectrum allocation, had conspired with Raja regarding the fixing of 2G spectrum pricing, Swamy alleged in his submission.

"This evidence reveals the connivance, collusion and consent of then finance minister P Chidambaram in the decisions taken by the then minister of communication and information technology (MOC&IT) A Raja in the matter of fixing the price of spectrum licence and in the matter of permitting two companies which received the licences, namely, Swan and Unitech, in dilution of shares even before roll-out of their services," Swami said in his petition.

Swamy also filed various documents, including a 15 January 2008 letter written by Chidambaram to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as also certified copy of the minutes of a meeting between Chidambaram, Raja and the prime minister during the tenure of Raja as the telecom minister.

Swamy in his petition also alleged that Chidambaram, who was guilty of criminal breach of trust as a cabinet minister, also had compromised with national security by his act.

He also sought prosecution of Chidambaram along with Raja, who is the sole accused in jail in connection with the 2G spectrum case now.

Judge Saini of the Special Court took on record documents provided by Swamy and adjourned the case till 21 January when Swamy will argue for making Chidambaram co-accused in the case.
