Tata Motors appoints Ranjit Yadav president, Neeraj Garg as VP of passenger car unit

Tata Motors has appointed former Samsung India country head Ranjit Yadav as  president of its passenger car division. The country's largest automobile manufacturer, has also roped in former Volkswagen director Neeraj Garg.

Yadav, was previously the country Head (India) of Mobile & IT Businesses of Samsung India Electronics. Yadav, who joined Samsung India in 2008, is credited with having expanded the company's mobile phone business from single digits to nearly 30 per cent over the past four years.

''Ranjit Yadav's experience of leading a highly customer-centric business will bring in the outside-in perspective that we need to further evolve our passenger vehicles business,'' Tata Motors managing director, Karl Slym said.

Incidentally, Slym, former India head of General Motors,  too joined Tata Motors last week as its managing Director. Slym, who was slated to join the Tata group company on 1 October,  took charge about 17 days ahead of the schedule.

Tata Motors did not provide any reasons for the advancement of Slym's joining date, but added that he has completed all requirements with the previous firm.

Tata Motors, the country's largest automobile company with consolidated revenues of Rs1,65,654 crore (FY12), has also appointed Neeraj Garg as vice president (commercial) for passenger car business unit (PCBU).
